More job info

I just wanted to update everyone about our jobs once more. Aaron found out yesterday that he will be working at the Walgreens on Big Pine! Woohoo! This is awesome because it's only 5 minutes away and he can ride his bike there if he wants to.  He originally thought he was going to have to work in Key West, which is a 45 minute drive.

Last week I took pictures for a family, a wedding, and a birthday party. I also did a facial for the same person 2 weeks in a row, an eyebrow and bakini wax for a lady, and another facial for a different lady who wanted to schedule another next week, but we will be in Tennessee. This is good, I am finally getting some experience so I might actually be able to get a job doing this when we move back! It is also helping me become more confident in what I'm doing. Yay for jobs!

Job Update

Great news! Aaron had a job interview at Walgreens on Wednesday, they scheduled him a second interview on Thursday morning, and they called him and offered him the job on Thursday night! It is for an assistant manager position, which is pretty much what he did at Target, just getting paid double (which he should be for all the crap he has to put up with).  They have great benefits and since there are Walgreens everywhere, he just might be able to transfer back to Tennessee with it when we are ready to move back. They really seemed to like him, and they were very impressed that he is a go-getter and has a bachelor's degree. In order to move up to manager in the company, you have to have a bachelor degree, so that is awesome. He is either going to start next Friday (Oct. 1) or Monday (Oct. 3) so that he can spend some time with Eric and Nina when they come visit.

The spa my mom used to work at called her up yesterday and asked her if she could fill in for their esthetician for the month of October because she was going out of town.  My mom told her that she was busy with a full time job and can't do it, but I possibly could. They said that is fine, and I am going in later today to learn about their products. It's only for the month and they aren't very busy right now, but hopefully I will get at least 1 or 2 facials to get me some experience. And when season starts, they sometimes get too busy for just 1 esthetician, so they may need me to fill in once in a while.

I hate having so many posts without pictures and I didn't have a picture that goes with job updates, so here is a fun picture I found from Christmas 2008.

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work we go!

Just wanted to put an update on what is going on here as far as jobs go.

Aaron has been working for a guy at the church cleaning crab traps.  He does that every day except for the days that Harald needs him to work for him doing masonry.  The crab traps have to be finished by October 5th, which is why Aaron has been working every day trying to get them finished. There are 2000 traps to be done and as of right now he has 700 left to do.  The masonry work he is doing for Harald right now is for the federal court house in Key West. They have made a wheel chair ramp, touched up a few rooms in the jail, and built the base for the security gate key pads.

I was hired at Casa Marina Resort as a door greeter, for which I thought I was going to be standing inside the door. It ended up actually being outside and I get bad migranes after being in the heat for a few hours, so I definitely could not stand being out in the 90 something degree heat for 8 hours every day. I tried it for 2 days and I had to quit.  Last week the church asked me if I could help out in the Sunday school, it's about 4 hours each Sunday, and they are going to pay me for it. Apparently they aren't getting near enough volunteers to work, which is why they are paying me. I think I might be watching the kids on Monday nights while they have Bible study too. I will also be taking pictures of a 3 year old for her birthday next month, a boy turning 1 in November and his birthday party, and a wedding on October 22nd.

Obnoxiousness... yes I like ending my words with "ness"

So I decided it would be a good idea to get a paypal account a couple of weeks ago. It's easier to buy stuff and that way only 1 company has your information instead of 50.  This morning I wake up to receive an e-mail from paypal saying here is my receipt for Skype. It had taken out $30 for 400 minutes to Taiwan. I sure as heck haven't every called Taiwan and I've never given Skype my paypal info. I sent in a dispute with paypal, so hopefully they will fix it.   Very irritating...

At the movies

I thought everyone would find this funny. Last night my mom, her friend, and I went to see The Switch at a theater in Key West.  It was a good movie, but about an hour into it my alarm on my phone went off.  I had the phone on silent, but apparently that doesn't work for alarms.  My alarm was a really loud rooster and of course my phone went stupid and I couldn't turn it off so I finally had to run out into the hall and try to turn it off. It was embarrassing and I didn't want to go back in.  When I finally did go back in my mom said that everyone in the theater was laughing really hard about the rooster in the theater. At least they enjoyed it I guess. =)

1st Geocaching Adventure

Last week we discovered geocaching. My mom and I decided to start with easy ones and we found 2 here on Big Pine. Those were super easy to find and nothing too exciting happened while looking for them. We went to find one on Little Torch Key a few days later and it was a little bit longer of a walk. It wasn't too hard to find, but there were spiders everywhere! It was a very spider filled day for me. First I was attacked by a jumping spider in the morning, and then by all those little crab-like spiders while geocaching. Spiders should NOT be allowed to jump!!
Our first geocache!! =)
Our 2nd geocache
Our 3rd geocache
The entrance to the mangroves where we found our 3rd geocache
My mom getting rid of the spiders
Our 4th, spider filled geocache

Day on the water

Splash and Kaia jumping on Harald
Sting Ray!
A couple weeks ago we went on the wave runner out to our little island where the dogs like to run around. Aaron and Harald went lobster hunting while my mom and I stayed at the island to swim.
Wave runner... woohoo!
